Photovoltaics is one of the fastest developing types of renewable energy sources. The rapid increase in the number of installed photovoltaic panels requires the development of systems that will enable monitoring the operation of the PV installation and easy management of the energy it generates.
Most of photovoltaic inverters available on the Polish market are equipped with a communication link that allows remote supervision of the operation of a photovoltaic installation. An increasingly popular protocol available for photovoltaic inverters is the Sunspec protocol. It enables reading measurements such as current, voltage and active and reactive power generated by the installation. UIt also makes it possible to control the operation of the installation by sending commands to limit or stop generating active power and controlling the generation of reactive power.
Software developed at the Institute of Power Engineering enables supervision over the operation of the photovoltaic installation and control of the power generated by the installation. Applications can run locally or remotely via a web browser.
The control and supervision system can be connected to a telemetry controller to provide communication with the dispatch centre of the power plant.
