Remote power metering systems

The Institute of Power Engineering, Gdańsk Division offers remote energy metering systems for electrical power producers and industrial consumers. We adapt each of such system to individual needs of the ordering party. The systems can be extended with additional metering functions and it can use data from other systems, such as SCADA

An example is the Power Plant Metering and Billing System intended for owners of multiple power generation facilities (e.g. hydro power plants, thermal power plants, wind farms or photovoltaic power plants).

The heart of the system is a server with a database to collect data. A web server is installed on this server so that users can have access to the data.

In the case of servicing a large number of facilities, additional data acquisition servers installed in e.g. field divisions may be used to allow the data to be separately accessed in several locations and to improve the system reliability. Figure 1 shows an example of a system structure with various possible solutions.

The system's application software is available via a standard web browser and enables, among other things:

  • visualisation of the status of individual facilities
  • creating electricity reports for settlement control
  • creating reports on the load profile
  • creating reports on system services provided
  • creating reports on the operation of facilities and devices (time of operation, number of starts, etc.)
  • creating work plan schedules for power generation facilities
  • creating other reports subject to data availability and user's needs.
