Virtual power plants (VPP)

The Institute of Power Engineering, Gdańsk Division offers comprehensive evaluation of the condition of hydro power plants and determination of the benefits resulting from the possibility of managing the selected renewable energy sources (RES) that form a virtual power plant (VPP). Evaluation may include tasks such as:

  1. A survey of selected hydro power plants and identification of potential units that can be integrated into a virtual power plant system.
  2. Technical analysis of the regulatory possibilities of a set of selected small hydro power plants controlled centrally as a virtual power plant and possible directions for increasing the efficiency of their operation.
  3. Analysis of the possibility of providing regulatory services and the possibility of increasing the market value of hydro power plant production.
  4. Analysis in technical, economic and legal aspects in terms of the potential to increase the market value of wind and PV power plants' production.
  5. Economic analyses, optimal directions of development of production assets.
  6. Development of software that supports the scheduling of operation of a selected cascade of small hydro power plants based on prepared numerical models.
  7. Delivery of a computer workstation and its integration with the existing SCADA systems in terms of obtaining necessary measurement data.
